The Business Case Competition was established via founding sponsorship from Goldman, Sachs & Co. in 2002 and is now supported by Shell Oil Company. Multi-racial, predominantly African American MBA student teams compete for $35K in scholarships and internships by writing business strategies for an assigned case business issue. The three top finalist teams present their business cases to a panel of executive judges to determine final rankings. To date, more than 100 student teams from colleges and universities across the country have taken part including teams from Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, Howard, Michigan, and Stanford Universities, Florida A&M University and the University of North Carolina.
2008 Business Case Finalists Selected
February 27, 2008 - From an initial pool of 20 case competitors from some of the top Business Schools in the US, The Executive Leadership Council’s 2008 Business Case Competition, sponsored by Shell Oil Company, has been cut down to the final three case teams. The finalists include the University of Michigan, the 2005 Business Case Competition champions; Florida A&M University, named Black Enterprise’s Top College/University for African Americans for 2007; and Baruch College, a first time entrant into the Business Case Competition, who had two teams entered into this year’s event. The three teams will present their oral case presentations before a select panel of ELC members and Shell senior executives on March 13th at Shell Headquarters. The teams are vying for $35,000 in scholarships. We would also like to acknowledge the tremendous work and effort of all our MBA teams that took part in this competition. We would like to recognize them for their energy, critical analysis and commitment to presenting their best work!
