Washington, DC - Tim and Daphne Maxwell Reid will serve as emcees of The Executive Leadership Council's 20th Anniversary Recognition Dinner. The event will be held at the Hilton Washington in Washington, DC on Thursday, October 26, 2006. The Executive Leadership Council's membership includes nearly 400 of the most senior African American executives in corporate America.
Tim Reid, who began his working career as an executive with DuPont, is best remembered for his role as "Venus Flytrap," the stylishly DJ on the popular CBS television series WKRP in Cincinnati from 1978-1982. The TV veteran has had success both in front of and behind the camera as an actor, producer, writer and director for TV and film. He was nominated twice for an Emmy and won an NAACP Image Award as Best actor and Best producer in a Comedy Series for his work on the groundbreaking, critically acclaimed series Frank's Place. He has had many starring roles in other television series over the years including Simon & Simon, Save Our Streets, Sister, Sister and most recently his reoccurring role as Steve Hyde's real father William Barnett on the hit Fox Network show, That 70's Show.
Daphne Maxwell Reid is an actor, writer, and producer. Her best known role was as Aunt Vivian on the hit NBC comedy, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. She is also known for her role as mortician/embalmer Hannah Griffith on Frank's Place, in which she co-starred with her husband Tim. Reid has also appeared in the shows Snoops, Linc's, and currently has a reoccurring role on the hit UPN show, Eve.
Tim and Daphne Reid are co-founders of New Millennium Studios, based in Petersburg, VA, which they opened in 1997. They have continued to write, produce, and direct projects including the full-length feature films Asunder and For Real, the American Legacy Television series and the critically acclaimed film "Once Upon a Time...When We Were Colored." The Reids also are co-founders of Obsidian Home Entertainment, a home video distribution company that releases independent African-American films, including all New Millennium films. The Reids are also producers of several shows on the fledgling TV One cable network including Cowboys of Color and Gospel Challenge.
