Collaborative Learning Environment
Through the TTP, students and instructors are introduced to a variety of innovative products related to emerging IT and business concepts. Many faculty members are especially impressed with the Collaborative Learning Environment.
The CLE is an open source tool based upon Sakai (www.sakaiproject.org) with a user-friendly front end developed by rSmart. Although the CLE is a full-fledged LMS, the TTP’s focus is to use the CLE as a collaborative tool for inter and intra institutional collaboration. In order to stay abreast of best practices and lessons learned by other institutions of higher education, the CLE is being hosted by Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Marist College has developed extensive core competencies by using the platform as its enterprise LMS.

Dr. LeeRoy Bronner’s class in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD). The class is used to teach student software and systems engineering technology. They use the CLE website to support the class. All my lectures, examinations, and example case studies are in the CLE. Also, Dr. Bronner has implemented a tutorial for his Enterprise Architect (EA) course that is available via CLE for the student labs. During the labs they learn how to use the modeling and archiving tools.

India Jacobs (L) and Montier Kess (R) are two Morgan State graduate students working on the NASA grant. These two students will develop an application and data model of an aircraft flight deck (i.e., the cockpit of the aircraft). NASA is concerned with flight safety and wants to understand the complex workings of the flight deck. Models will be developed and archived using the Enterprise Architect (EA) tool for analysis and reuse.
