C-span Hosts A Week-long Tv Series Featuring Interviews With 8 Top Hbcu Presidents

FAMU President Dr. Elmira Mangum appeared on C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” today as part of a February 2015 C-SPAN Bus tour series on historically black colleges and universities. The series features discussions with HBCU presidents about the role and legacy of historically black colleges and universities.

Dr. Mangum will join The ELC as a guest panelist at our 2015 Winter General Membership Meeting in March. The ELC will bring together its members with key HBCU leaders, policy makers and strategic partners to discuss the current state and future of HBCUs and their impact on developing future global black leaders. HBCUs are also a priority focus of our External Advocacy initiative in which The ELC will reach out to Members of Congress regarding issues that affect the sustainability and financial strength of HBCUs.

Throughout the month, C-SPAN has hosted a national bus tour at eight of the nation’s top HBCUs, including Howard University, Hampton University, Fisk University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), Tuskegee University and Xavier University.

Tune in to C-SPAN at 9 a.m. (EST) on February 18 to watch the interview with Dr. Brian L. Johnson of Tuskegee University and February 19 with Xavier University President Dr. Norman Francis. Click here to watch the “Washington Journal,” including current and past episodes from the HBCU series.
