ELC Member Alana Ward Robinson is the President and CEO of Robinson Group Consulting Inc. RGC collaborates with forward thinking visionary leaders and organizations to assess, design, and execute customized solutions to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of the enterprise.

Q: Why did you make the leap into entrepreneurship?

A: My corporate job was eliminated. I decided to take the leap into entrepreneurship and build a business that I could own and grow.

Q: How did you get the idea or concept for your business?

Tried two other entrepreneurial ventures. Landed and sustained traction with the consulting business.

Q: What was your biggest mistake/failure and how did you navigate through it?

A: Biggest entrepreneur mistake was buying a franchise. After the 5 year building lease term ended, we were able to sell the business. Tight cash flow management allowed us to minimize loss.

Q: To what or whom do you attribute your success?

A: Our consulting business grew organically. This growth is directly attributed to the meaningful relationships built over a 30+ corporate career. These relationships trusted our abilities to deliver the work and served as impactful references to others.

Q: What has entrepreneurship taught you?

A: Entrepreneurship has taught me to trust my instincts, develop strategies to increase productivity, the value of teaming with trusted business partners and to be confident across a variety of industries.

Q: Any tips for new business owners or struggling business owners?

A: Every client should feel like they are your only client! Cash Flow Management is CRITICAL! Stay encouraged!
