Carla Harris, Board Chair of The Executive Leadership Council (ELC) and Vice Chair of Wealth Management at Morgan Stanley, and ELC President & CEO Ronald C. Parker, were panelists in Issues Forums hosted by Members of the Congressional Black Caucus during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference (CBCF-ALC).

Ms. Harris served on a panel hosted by Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-3) titled Money, Wealth and Disparities: Building a Personal Financial Legacy, on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. Additional panelists included Ray Odom of Northern Trust – Chicago, Pamela Everhart of Fidelity Investments and Michele C. Green of Prudential. Georgetown University Professor, Author and Commentator Michael Eric Dyson was moderator. Rep. Beatty co-chaired this year’s CBCF-ALC.

Mr. Parker participated on a panel hosted by Congressman G.K. Butterfield, Jr. (NC-1) titled Black in Business: Bringing Diversity to the Boardroom. Panel participants joining Mr. Parker were Janice Bryant Howroyd, Founder and CEO of the ACT 1 Group; Julia Johnson, Board Member of FirstEnergy Corp.; Don Peebles, Founder and CEO of The Peebles Corporation and a member of the CBCF Board; and Cheryl Pearson-McNeil, Senior Vice President of U.S. Strategic Community Alliances and Consumer Engagement at Nielsen. TV One anchor Roland Martin was moderator.

That evening, members of The Executive Leadership Council joined members of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (The Boulé), The Links, Incorporated and the Congressional Black Caucus for a joint Networking Reception at Skadden Arps law firm. It was the 4th year for the private reception, attended by more than 200 leaders in business, public policy, healthcare, the arts and media who were in Washington for the CBCF-ALC. ELC Board Secretary Valerie D. Lewis, Esq., assistant vice president and assistant secretary at Safeway Inc., chaired the event.
