Elc Supports The Legal Defense Fund’s Call For Police Reform

The Executive Leadership Council recently issued a press release announcing its support for The NAACP Legal Defense Fund’s call for the federal government to enact nationwide policing reforms. Both organizations believe such reform must include federal legislation related to increasing Department of Justice (DOJ) oversight of funding for police department training and strengthening the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division’s ability to identify and investigate patterns of discrimination and misconduct that can potentially surface at police departments across the country.

Given this week’s media attention on related issues, including a House Appropriations Committee effort to provide less funding than requested for law enforcement initiatives such as the proposal to fund nearly 50,000 police body cameras, as well as other high profile incidents in the media, we thought it was timely to re-post the link to our press release supporting the LDF’s efforts.
