Garrison Collier is currently in his sophomore year at Georgia Institute of Technology majoring in Computer Science. He is a Georgia native and lived abroad in China for almost 4 years. While in China, Garrison developed a global perspective because he was exposed to a variety of cultures and values. He developed an interest in computer science because he saw the impact of STEM jobs on China’s rapid development. Garrison’s programming projects include creating a Physics Electric Force Calculator using over 400 lines of code. During summer 2024 Garrison participated in Georgia Tech’s Language for Business and Technology (LBAT) in China. In addition to being an Intermediate Chinese speaker, he has experience working with MATLAB, Java and Python. At his Pre-College program, Garrison received multiple academic awards and was on the Dean’s List, for both semesters of the 2023-24 school year. Garrison is a member of the Honors Program, the AAMI (African American Male Initiative) and the CSA (Chinese Students Association) Speaking Program.
